Mining Engineer

About the role

MLG Oz, an ASX-listed contractor with more than 1,400 employees across 30 sites, is hiring a Mining Engineer for its Perth-based team. Reporting to the Civil Manager and Project Managers, the engineer takes projects from concept and design through to implementation, reporting and close-out, working with site teams, technical specialists, senior leaders and clients. Regular travel to client and operational sites is required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop practical engineering plans, designs and solutions that meet operational and client requirements
• Prepare drawings, project specifications, engineering calculations and cost estimates
• Review and support drill pattern designs
• Design and conduct engineering trials and investigations, and prepare technical reports, diagrams and regulatory documentation
• Manage projects from planning and resourcing through to close-out, monitoring schedules, budgets and performance
• Analyse project outcomes and recommend improvements, including process standardisation and waste reduction
• Provide hands-on engineering support on site, including implementation, reporting and compliance
• Champion a strong safety culture and comply with company, client and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Ideally 3-5 years' relevant engineering experience, preferably in mining or a related operational environment
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Sound understanding of project delivery, productivity, costs and budgets
• Current C Class driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly

Required skills

• Experience producing technical drawings, engineering calculations and professional reports
• Confidence using engineering, technical and data-analysis software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and design-thinking skills
• Ability to present technical information to stakeholders
