Midrange Engineer - Infrastructure Platforms

About the role

Leidos Australia is recruiting a Midrange Engineer for its Matrix Engineering Group. The role contributes to designing, building, supporting and accrediting large enterprise infrastructure platforms for mission-critical Federal Government environments. You will work with the Program Engineering Lead, engineering teams and customer stakeholders to turn requirements into detailed designs and support reliable platform delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into detailed designs and supporting services for complex Platform as a Service solutions.
• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform services delivered through VMware environments.
• Tune system performance and use automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to streamline builds, configuration deployment, health checks and repeatable operational processes.
• Produce and maintain technical, system and operational documentation, give specialist advice and resolve complex infrastructure issues, including hands-on support at customer sites when required.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Cisco UCS and VMware Cloud Foundation, including integration with network and supporting services.
• Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues, tune performance and write clear technical and operational documentation.
• Ability to communicate technical advice and work with engineering teams, customers and other stakeholders.
• Australian citizenship and an NV1 security clearance; certain roles may also be subject to ITAR requirements.

• Advantageous but not essential: storage administration (NetApp), infrastructure-as-code and automation, MCSE/MCTIP, VCP or ITIL Foundation certifications
