MERIT Case Worker

About the role

Calvary Riverina Private Hospital is recruiting a Counsellor / MERIT Case Worker for a permanent full-time position (Monday to Friday) at the Calvary Drug and Alcohol Centre in Wagga Wagga. The Magistrates' Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) Program provides case management for people who have entered the criminal justice system and have a demonstrated alcohol or other drug problem. You will deliver intensive case management to MERIT clients in the residential program and in the community, working closely with Calvary's residential rehabilitation services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualised assessment, care planning and case management for clients engaged with the MERIT program.
• Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with MERIT, residential rehabilitation services and other key stakeholders to support client outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and strengthen pathways between MERIT, residential rehabilitation and other treatment services.

Required profile

• Qualification as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist or another relevant tertiary qualification under the NSW Health Professionals Award.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and eligibility for membership of the relevant peak body professional association.
• Demonstrated understanding of the health and social impact of substance abuse and dependence, and commitment to the harm minimisation approach.
• Demonstrated understanding of and skills in evidence-based interventions for substance abuse and dependence.
• Current Working with Children Check.
