Mental Health Clinician / Nurse or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Practitioner

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Australia / Northern Territory (RFDS SA/NT) is recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced Mental Health Clinician, Mental Health Nurse, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Practitioner, or a suitable internship candidate. This is a 1.0 FTE position based in Alice Springs, serving remote South Australian and Northern Territory Aboriginal and pastoral and mining communities. It reports directly to the Mental Health Service Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a stepped, evidence-based and culturally safe mental health service for remote First Nations communities.
• Provide moderate intensity mental health services to clients who cannot access appropriate services because they live in remote locations or are ineligible for existing services.
• Use a combination of telephone, telehealth and face-to-face consulting to deliver psychological interventions.
• Identify activities to develop and raise awareness of mental health and emotional wellbeing services in remote communities.

Required profile

• Registered with AHPRA.
• Experience delivering mental health interventions in line with National Standards for Mental Health Services.
• Awareness of treatment approaches for remote First Nations communities and associated healing practices.
• Experience integrating government and non-government agencies and other human service providers in service planning and delivery.
• Experience implementing mental health and social and emotional wellbeing health promotion activities.
