Medical Officer – Clinical Research (Melbourne)

About the role

Join a leading clinical research organisation in Melbourne as a Medical Officer, supporting early‑phase and healthy‑volunteer studies. The role combines fast‑paced clinical work with strict protocol adherence and a strong focus on participant safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality medical care to clinical trial participants while ensuring compliance with GCP standards and ethical guidelines.
• Act as Investigator on assigned studies, conducting consent discussions, eligibility assessments and protocol‑required procedures.
• Review medical histories, diagnostics and adverse events to support safe trial conduct.
• Prescribe investigational and permitted concomitant medications within scope.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including operations, pharmacy, QA and project management.
• Participate in safety reviews, audits, on‑call rotations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full, unconditional registration (minimum 2 years).
• Strong clinical judgement and recent hands‑on experience.
• Advanced Life Support certification and current GCP training.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with healthy volunteers.
• Comfortable working in a high‑volume, time‑sensitive clinical environment.
• Clinical trial experience is an advantage but not essential.
