Medical Officer – Clinical Guidance & Donor Safety

About the role

Lifeblood is seeking a qualified Medical Officer to provide expert clinical guidance that safeguards donor and recipient health. The role blends office work, donor‑centre visits and home‑based duties, supporting a national medical team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver medical advice to optimise donor, recipient and blood component safety.
• Staff a rostered telephone advisory line and respond to clinical queries.
• Participate in research projects that inform medical policy development.
• Collaborate with medical specialists, nurses, scientists and administrative staff.
• Attend office and donor‑centre locations regularly each week.

Required profile

• Medical degree with current full registration on the Medical Board of Australia.
• Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience.
• Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Ability to quickly learn and use Blood Service databases.
• Experience with telephony‑related applications and intranet systems.
