Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer

About the role

Thales Australia is looking for a motivated Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer to support critical defence land‑vehicle programmes. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to design, integrate, verify and sustain complex mechanical and mechatronic systems for platforms such as Bushmaster and Hawkei.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and support mechanical and mechatronic subsystems for land vehicles.
• Create and review technical drawings, 3D models, assemblies and documentation using Creo Parametric.
• Develop and maintain engineering artefacts including requirements, specifications, interface definitions, design descriptions and test procedures.
• Conduct engineering activities across the system lifecycle – from requirements analysis through design, integration, verification, validation and acceptance.
• Analyse mechanical, structural, thermal and electromechanical performance to meet reliability and maintainability targets.
• Support the integration of mission systems and vehicle platforms, managing technical risks and ensuring compliance with standards.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Experience in defence or heavy‑vehicle projects is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage technical documentation.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
