Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

Karara Mining Limited, a joint venture between Ansteel Group and Gindalbie Metals Limited, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead its mechanical maintenance teams and contractor trades personnel. The role works on an 8 days on and 6 days off roster (7 nights on, 7 days off) and requires a permanent position working directly for Karara Mining.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coach the mechanical maintenance team and collaborate with them to improve maintenance systems, processes and procedures.
• Prioritise work to meet business needs while maximising safety and production outcomes.
• Manage rosters to ensure adequate site coverage and arrange contractor support when required.
• Review and approve daily work plans, Take 5s, JHAs and risk assessments before work begins.
• Conduct post-outage inspections and quality audits on critical maintenance tasks.
• Identify and report process improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) are completed and guide them as needed.
• Communicate shift issues and incidents in line with Incident Management Procedures.
• Assist with shutdown planning, including labour, equipment, tools and work scopes.

Required profile

• Mechanical trade qualification.
• Western Australian C Class driver's licence.
• Tickets: Confined Spaces and Working at Heights; completed Section 26 training.
• Strong supervision experience leading medium to large teams.
• National police clearance and eligibility to work permanently in Australia.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of maintenance management, strategy development and implementation.
• Ability to develop, plan and execute maintenance activities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Problem-solving and root cause investigation.
