Mechanical Maintainer – Mining & Metals

About the role

Nyrstar is seeking a motivated Mechanical Maintainer to join its Hobart plant. This position offers the chance to work in a forward‑looking global mining and metals company, supporting the operation of critical metal processing assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, monitor and record the condition of plant assets.
• Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure safe and efficient production.
• Support day‑to‑day performance of the maintenance team and help drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain strong customer focus between maintenance and operating departments.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification such as Cert III Mechanical, Fitter and Turner.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Flexibility to meet safety, environmental and production targets.
• High‑level communication skills and capability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience or knowledge of the metal processing industry is preferred.
