Mechanical Fitter – Dayshift (4 on/4 off) at Townsville Port

About the role

Glencore is seeking a trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter to join its Port Maintenance team in Townsville. Working a 4‑on, 4‑off day‑shift roster, you will help keep fixed plant equipment running safely and reliably while enjoying a strong work‑life balance in North Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on port fixed‑plant equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform corrective maintenance, including servicing, repairs and overhauls.
• Support preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and operational compliance.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent) with experience in heavy industry or manufacturing.
• Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting capability.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Sound communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Required skills

• Mechanical fitting and turning.
• Experience with conveyor systems.
• Forklift licence.
• Basic rigging or dogging ticket.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket.
