Mechanical Engineer – Submarine Sustainment

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Babcock you will apply your technical expertise to support the sustainment and refurbishment of the Collins‑class submarine fleet. This hands‑on position spans the full engineering lifecycle, from investigations and configuration control to testing, trials and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Support sustainment and refurbishment activities for Collins‑class submarines.
• Conduct technical investigations, configuration control, set‑to‑work, testing and trials.
• Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and knowledge records.
• Deliver engineering solutions that meet safety, schedule and budget requirements.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented Mechanical Engineer with strong design, analysis, manufacturing and sustainment knowledge.
• Experience in engineering reports and technical writing.
• Understanding of product safety, quality processes and technical risk management.
• Familiarity with configuration management and engineering change management processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLM systems.
• Proficiency with MRP systems.
• Experience using design software.
• Experience using simulation software.
• Experience using analysis software.
