Mechanical Engineer (Remote)

About the role

The EKDNT Foundation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems, tools, and prototypes that support mental‑health and community‑support initiatives. This full‑time remote position will apply engineering principles to create safe, accessible, and comfortable devices used in outreach, education, and therapeutic environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings for new products and equipment.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prototype fabrication, testing, and iterative design improvements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate user needs into practical engineering solutions.
• Manage project timelines, coordinate with external vendors or fabrication partners, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
• Document engineering work, prepare reports and presentations, and incorporate feedback from testing and users.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience in machine design, component selection, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Hands‑on experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360.
• Background in research and development, including concept exploration and prototyping.
• Strong project‑management abilities and the capacity to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
