Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Saunders International is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support its growing portfolio of engineering and construction projects across the energy, defence, infrastructure and resource sectors. The role focuses on challenging design work, technical issue analysis and schedule optimisation while ensuring compliance with Australian and Defence standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities in line with the project execution plan.
• Integrate company quality systems with project‑specific requirements and develop appropriate documentation.
• Identify and implement applicable standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
• Promote safety observations and conduct workplace inspections.
• Prepare and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and verify compliance.
• Monitor delivery compliance across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, tanks, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
• Order and coordinate materials for site use.
• Ensure adherence to project Quality Assurance (QA) plans.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification or advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• General WHS induction for construction (White Card, Blue Card).
• Enthusiasm for learning and a collaborative team attitude.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Practical problem‑solving approach.
