Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Building Services (Brisbane)

About the role

The consultancy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and building services design across a variety of projects in Brisbane, including commercial, health, education, defence and infrastructure. You will own projects from concept through to delivery, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the mechanical team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver mechanical design projects to a high technical standard, from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and documentation, supporting quality HVAC and building services solutions.
• Provide design certification and QA review in line with company policies and standards.
• Coordinate requirements across disciplines and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and project partners.
• Prepare fee proposals and contribute to business development opportunities.
• Mentor and support junior and graduate engineers as the team grows.
• Attend site inspections, project meetings and industry events as a company representative.

Required profile

• Approximately 5+ years of experience in building services (HVAC) design.
• An Australian recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant trade background.
• Professional registration such as CPEng, NER, RPEQ or a QBCC Designer Licence, or eligibility to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and relevant industry codes.
• Proficiency in Revit and CAD for design and documentation.
• Solid understanding of electrical, fire and hydraulic disciplines.
• Experience engaging directly with clients and project stakeholders.
• Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions.
• Experience or strong interest in health, defence or major infrastructure sectors.
