Mechanical Engineer – Heavy Machinery (Snowy 2.0)

About the role

The Future Generation Joint Venture is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support heavy‑machinery engineering activities on the Snowy 2.0 pumped‑hydro project in the Snowy Mountains, NSW. You will assist in designing, analysing, and implementing mechanical systems that meet project specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Deputy Managers in designing mechanical components and systems for the project.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to analyse and modify designs based on project constraints.
• Perform calculations and simulations to verify design feasibility.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD software.
• Support on‑site implementation and installation of mechanical systems.
• Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and documentation maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).
• 3–5 years experience in heavy industry (mining, oil & gas, power generation, or manufacturing) within a mobile workshop environment.
• Membership with Engineers Australia preferred.
• Valid manual driver’s licence, high‑risk work licences and White Card.
• Ability to work in remote, high‑pressure environments on a 14/7 roster.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Advanced MS Excel for data modelling.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
