Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Projects

About the role

BCEI Australia is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its ANZ engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, analysing, and delivering mechanical systems for data centre construction projects, collaborating with civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the mechanical scope throughout the project lifecycle, from site surveys and budgeting to commissioning and as‑built review.
• Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire‑protection systems and produce technical drawings and specifications.
• Support tender and construction design, value engineering, and obtain customer approvals.
• Review and manage consultant packages against the design programme.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least 5 years in data‑centre design with a focus on HVAC and plumbing.
• Strong problem‑solving, project management, and communication abilities.
• Willingness to conduct site visits as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Experience with HVAC load calculation tools such as Carrier HAP.
• Knowledge of PipeFlo (advantage).
• Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) and fuel‑oil control systems.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes.
