Mechanic II – Steam and Gas Equipment

About the role

The Mechanic II (Steam and Gas) joins GE Vernova’s FieldCore team to install, maintain and repair heavy rotating machinery used in power generation. You will work on turbines, pumps, generators and related equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical documents to determine work procedures.
• Install, dismantle, and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on power tools, hand tools and training equipment.
• Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment.
• Conduct machining and welding operations to fabricate parts for lab and shop training equipment.
• Inspect materials and machines with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers and torque wrenches.
• Handle shipping, receiving, inventory control and tool management for major components.

Required profile

• Degree or associate degree in a technical field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience maintaining, dismantling and installing industrial machinery, pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Experience with equipment alignment (laser or traditional methods) and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel and work extended periods away from home, including holidays, weekends and overtime.
