Manufacturing Operations Manager

About the role

Cummins-Meritor Australia is seeking an Operations Manager to lead both the Sunshine Truck Axle Assembly Plant and the Derrimut Aftermarket Distribution Centre. The role covers operations across the axle manufacturing plant and the national distribution warehouse, with a 100% on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the axle manufacturing plant and the national distribution warehouse operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and maintain a safe, positive work environment.
• Apply best practices to improve work methods and processes, including welding, assembly, painting, pick and pack and warehouse materials management.
• Drive operational improvements with measurable results, and set expectations for safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Communicate with customers, operations staff and support functions, and proactively use Cummins' global expertise and resources.
• Lead annual operating plans, forecasts and measurements, cascade performance targets and drive accountable performance.
• Manage, coach and develop staff, working with them on training, development, performance and career planning.
• Oversee operations maintenance and facilities management, and build a strong operations leadership culture.

Required profile

• University or college degree required.
• 5+ years of experience managing site operations, including managerial, leadership and budgetary experience.
• Significant relevant experience in a similar industry preferred.
• Experience in lean manufacturing and/or Cummins Operational Excellence preferred.
• Experience managing a unionized manufacturing environment.
