Head of Production and Sourcing

About the role

Hommey, a design-led homewares brand founded in Melbourne in 2020 and selling across Australia and the US, is hiring a Head of Production and Sourcing for its headquarters in Melbourne CBD. The role establishes and leads a production function that brings structure, forward planning and accountability to the company's growing product programs, and works closely with Design, Merchandise Planning and Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own critical paths from development through to ex-factory, setting realistic timelines and communicating changes and risks early
• Manage supplier commitments across fabric, components and finished goods, and partner with Merchandise Planning to turn forecasts into supplier commitments and purchase orders through to shipment
• Lead fabric and material planning, factory capacity reviews and production allocation across suppliers
• Build trusted supplier relationships and enforce quality control standards, including testing, samples and inspections scheduled early enough to resolve issues before shipment
• Report clearly on production status, delays, fabric position, quality issues and delivery risks, with practical recommendations
• Partner with Design on technical feasibility, sampling, costing and material sourcing
• Identify, assess and onboard suppliers, and negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities and payment terms
• Build factory, product and materials compliance frameworks for current and planned markets
• Build and lead the production and sourcing team, including offshore support, and introduce systems such as a PLM system to scale

Required profile

• Experienced production, sourcing or manufacturing leader, ideally across homewares, lifestyle, furniture or similar categories
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation experience
• Comfortable working with forecasts, production data and financial commitments
• Collaborative leader able to work with Design, Merchandise Planning, Operations and Finance

Required skills

• End-to-end production lifecycle knowledge, from development and material sourcing to quality control and shipment
• Supplier capacity, material commitments and purchase order management
• Quality assurance, product testing and factory compliance
• Capacity and material planning; experience with a PLM system is advantageous
