Manager - Risk Advisory

About the role

A top independent law firm in Australia is looking for an experienced risk management consultant at manager level to join its Risk Advisory practice in Sydney. The practice works closely with the firm's Legal and Data Intelligence groups to serve public and private sector clients, and has a strong pipeline of mandates. The role is hands-on, advising tier-1 clients on risk management, regulatory and compliance matters, mainly in regulated financial services such as banking, asset managers, superannuation and insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice and help clients navigate complex regulatory environments and manage risks effectively.
• Design and implement risk management frameworks.
• Deliver regulatory compliance advice and governance reviews.
• Support regulatory enforcement and investigations.
• Work with a diverse team of professionals across the firm to deliver practical, commercially focused solutions.

Required profile

• 6+ years of consulting experience in a top-tier professional services firm.
• Strong background in risk management and regulatory compliance, especially in financial services.
• Familiarity with Australian regulatory frameworks including APRA, ASIC and/or AUSTRAC.
• Ability to execute complex, novel and bespoke projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to engage senior stakeholders and present to c-suite executives.
• Agile mindset and enjoyment of multidisciplinary teams combining legal, risk, data and technology expertise.
