Manager (Portfolio Prioritisation) - Strategic Rail
Department of Transport and Main Roads · Brisbane
Job description
About the role
Transport and Main Roads is seeking an experienced Manager (Portfolio Prioritisation) to join its Strategic Rail team. You will lead the Portfolio Prioritisation team, delivering integrated planning, network capability assessment, possession planning and portfolio decision-support services across the SEQ rail investment portfolio, including projects such as planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic team leadership, set priorities, allocate workload and resources and oversee delivery of agreed outcomes.
- Develop and continuously improve prioritisation, integrated planning and possession management frameworks, processes and planning tools.
- Give strategic advice on rail delivery and construction activities, with a focus on optimisation.
- Oversee network capability maps and future-state network planning products to support portfolio planning and long-term outcomes.
- Ensure the forward portfolio delivery calendar is accurate, so future network constraints, high-risk delivery periods and competing access requirements are identified early.
- Lead working groups and governance forums, manage escalations and coordinate responses to risks, issues and constraints.
- Resolve interconnected portfolio risks, issues and interfaces across projects, programs, agencies and operational stakeholders.
- Build stakeholder relationships and establish clear governance, priorities and planning expectations.
Required profile
- Rail engineering or similar qualifications.
- Experience in portfolio, program or integrated delivery planning within a complex infrastructure environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic change across complex environments.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
What we offer
- Work-life balance and flexible working, including working from home options.
- A central Brisbane location near Central Station and public transport.
- Generous leave and superannuation.
A criminal history check is required before appointment; applications stay current for 12 months. Job reference: QLD/704716/26, closing date 5 November 2026.
