Air Freight Specialist

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is looking for an Air Freight Specialist to join its team. The role covers Air Imports, Air Exports or both, and involves owning the customer shipment journey from booking through to billing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance. It suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong customer relationships and delivers results.

Key responsibilities

• Own the customer shipment journey from booking through to billing, handling every shipment accurately, efficiently and compliantly.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Manage bookings, documentation, shipment milestones and operational updates.
• Ensure accurate and timely invoicing while maximising profitability on every file.
• Resolve customer queries, claims and invoice disputes professionally and urgently.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify ways to improve efficiency.
• Apply customer SOPs and compliance requirements across all shipments.
• Identify opportunities to grow customer relationships and support business growth.

Required profile

• Experience in air freight imports, exports or freight forwarding operations.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• A commercial mindset focused on profitability and efficiency.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to solve problems, manage competing priorities and work independently.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for delivering results.
