Manager – Aluminium & Alumina Center of Excellence

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Manager to lead the Aluminium & Alumina Center of Excellence in Brisbane. The role combines technical leadership with project execution for complex mining and metals projects, supporting the company’s global portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team in interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering aspects of multiple small‑complex or large‑scale projects.
• Participate in project planning and proposal reviews, providing technical guidance on engineering and construction.
• Own the engineering elements of capital estimates, including quantities and budgets for proposals and execution phases.
• Review and manage major changes in scope, material quantities, budget or schedule, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Coordinate with functional and project leadership to determine weekly in‑person attendance while supporting part‑time telework.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in the mining or metals sector.
• Strong ability to translate technical requirements into actionable project plans.
• Experience with capital estimating and budget management for engineering projects.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with stakeholders and leadership.
