Manager - Airport & Aerodromes

About the role

Maranoa Regional Council is seeking an experienced Manager to lead the operation and compliance of its regional airports and aerodromes, including Roma Airport. The role ensures a safe, secure and regulatory‑compliant air transport gateway that supports regional economic growth and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Accountable Manager under CASR 139 and fulfil statutory duties such as Aerodrome Reporting Officer, Security Contact Officer, Radiation Safety Officer and AIP Responsible Person.
• Maintain and update the Aerodrome Manual, Transport Security Program, Safety Management System and Emergency Plans; lead safety and security committees and conduct emergency exercises.
• Provide visible leadership to the Regional Airports and Compliance team, liaise with airlines, tenants and stakeholders, and manage operational and capital budgets.
• Oversee leases, licences, access agreements and contractual arrangements for aerodrome use; ensure timely reporting, audits and hazard mitigation.
• Continuously review and improve aerodrome operations, integrate stakeholder feedback, monitor industry trends and drive risk‑mitigation programmes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in aerodrome or airport management within a safety‑sensitive aviation environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian civil aviation regulations, particularly CASR 139.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and engage with external stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of safety and security.
