Management Consultant – Government & Advisory

About the role

RSM Australia is looking for a Management Consultant to join its Government & Advisory team. The role is primarily focused on Federal Government projects while also supporting a broader client portfolio. Based in Canberra with the possibility of remote work for the right candidate, this position offers a client‑facing environment where you will own defined workstreams and help deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify business issues and root causes with clients.
• Contribute to and manage government projects or specific work packages.
• Develop project plans, schedules and deliverables.
• Produce reports, tender responses and client‑ready outputs.
• Apply government compliance, assurance and governance frameworks.
• Design practical, fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Conduct research and analysis to support decision‑making.
• Support and coach junior team members.
• Build strong client relationships through clear communication.
• Participate in business development and networking activities.

Required profile

• Approximately 3 years of experience in consulting, advisory or a similar role.
• Experience working on Federal Government projects, either as a consultant or within government.
• Understanding of government environments, compliance and assurance requirements.
• Ability to manage project workstreams and deliver client‑focused outcomes.
