Maintenance Technician – Material Handling & Automation

About the role

Amazon is expanding its Reliability, Maintenance & Engineering (RME) team at a brand‑new site in Horsley Park, Sydney. As a Maintenance Technician you will keep the warehouse running safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing material handling equipment, automated packaging and distribution machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on all site equipment.
• Diagnose and repair equipment faults in a live warehouse environment.
• Implement long‑term solutions to reduce future downtime.
• Use specialised tools to maximise equipment effectiveness.
• Follow and promote health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Formal trade qualification – Certificate III in Electrotechnology with a current electrical trade licence, or Certificate III in Engineering, or Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Turner), or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
• Proven fault‑finding ability within material handling or automation equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Experience maintaining conveyors, motor controllers and inverters.
• Commitment to working to appropriate health & safety regulations.

Required skills

• Electrotechnology (Certificate III) and electrical trade licence.
• Mechanical trade skills (Fitter/Turner) or engineering qualification.
• Planned preventative maintenance.
• Fault finding in material handling and automation systems.
• Electrical/mechanical drawing interpretation.
• Conveyor maintenance.
• Motor controller and inverter servicing.
• CMMS system usage.
• Sortation machine maintenance.
• Bar‑code scanner configuration.
• Print‑and‑apply machine maintenance.
