Maintenance Technician / Fitter – Packing Machinery

About the role

A vertically integrated national horticultural business is seeking a skilled, practical Maintenance Technician / Fitter for its packing facility in Drinan, Queensland. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will maintain, service and repair packing line machinery and associated equipment within a small maintenance team, helping minimise breakdowns and keep production running efficiently. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out servicing and repairs
• Maintain and repair packing line machinery and equipment
• Identify ways to improve machinery efficiency and reliability
• Guide team members and contractors on correct machinery operation
• Follow safety procedures and keep quality documentation
• Carry out other maintenance duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor

Required profile

• Relevant mechanical trade qualifications, ideally as a Fitter (General) or Maintenance Fitter
• Experience with packing lines or food processing machinery
• Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery
• Current driver's licence
• Flexibility to work extra hours and occasional Saturdays during peak production, and some travel to another packing facility in the Northern Territory during harvest

Required skills

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Knowledge of motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Welding and steel fabrication skills
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications

What we offer

• Salary of $85,000 - $95,000 plus superannuation
