Maintenance Lead (Temp to Perm)

About the role

An experienced, hands-on Maintenance Lead is sought to join the operations team, reporting to the Plant and Maintenance Superintendent. The role ensures the plant, equipment and facilities run safely, reliably and at optimum performance. It is initially a temporary position with a strong possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute preventative and breakdown maintenance activities
• Lead and support maintenance shutdowns and equipment overhauls
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, suppliers and external service providers
• Manage and improve the preventative maintenance program
• Monitor critical spare parts inventory and oversee engineering stores
• Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting and cost control
• Work with production teams to maximise plant uptime and reliability
• Drive continuous improvement across maintenance systems and processes
• Mentor and develop maintenance personnel
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and statutory requirements

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role in manufacturing
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant reliability practices
• Experience with industrial plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, compressors, motors and heat exchangers
• Experience managing contractors and external service providers
