Maintenance Fitter - Long Term Casual

About the role

An experienced, hands-on Maintenance Fitter is sought to join the operations team in Campbellfield, Victoria. Reporting to the Plant and Maintenance Superintendent, the fitter ensures plant, equipment and facilities run safely, reliably and at optimum performance. The role sits within a small maintenance team and covers preventative and breakdown maintenance, continuous improvement and equipment overhauls.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance activities
• Support maintenance shutdowns and equipment overhauls
• Improve the preventative maintenance program
• Monitor critical spare parts inventory and oversee engineering stores
• Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting and cost control
• Work with production teams to maximise plant uptime and reliability
• Drive continuous improvement across maintenance systems and processes
• Lead, mentor and develop maintenance personnel
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and statutory requirements

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in a maintenance role within manufacturing
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant reliability practices
• Experience with industrial plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, compressors, motors and heat exchangers
• Leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing contractors and external service providers
• Planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities

• Preventative maintenance and plant reliability
• Computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS/MEX preferred)
