Maintenance Electrician

About the role

Wannon Water is looking for an A-grade electrician to join its electrical maintenance team in Warrnambool. The role ensures the operational reliability of electrical installations by fault finding, preventative maintenance and asset improvements. A fully equipped 4WD vehicle and trade tools are provided. Applications close on 1 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Find faults and rectify electrical breakdowns, alter and install industrial electrical equipment
• Carry out preventative electrical maintenance and modify electrical assets
• Modify PLC/RTU wiring where required
• Support upgrades and maintenance of the SCADA radio telemetry system
• Provide electrical support to Mechanical and Operational teams and assist the Electrical Team Leader
• Deliver prompt, efficient service to customers in line with company policy
• Comply with occupational health and safety policies at all times

Required profile

• Victorian A-grade electrician registration with industrial electrical maintenance and installation experience
• Sound knowledge of industrial electrical equipment and systems, including motor control and protection, VSDs, soft starters, sensors and flowmeters
• Working knowledge of acts and regulations relevant to the electrical industry
• Able to work independently and in a team, with a systematic approach
• Authority to make autonomous decisions on electrical service functions

Required skills

• Telemetry RTUs and SCADA radio telemetry systems
• Troubleshooting complex control systems and using electrical schematics to diagnose faults
• Desirable: basic electronics certificate, asset and works management data systems, and knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA (including CITECT software)
