Logistics Operator (Casual)

About the role

Aurizon Port Services is expanding its operations in Port Pirie, South Australia, and is seeking multiple Casual Logistics Operators to handle the safe and efficient movement and storage of cargo at the Port Pirie site. Aurizon is Australia's largest rail freight operator, moving over 250 million tonnes of commodities annually.

Key responsibilities

• Warehousing, bundling and wrapping of cargo.
• Loading and unloading containers, trucks and trains.
• Stacking and storing cargo according to yard requirements.
• Providing accurate and timely information to clerical staff.
• Operating forklifts, reach stackers and front-end loaders (training provided if required).
• Maintaining the cleanliness of assigned machinery and keeping a safe, organised work environment.
• Adhering to company policies, safety procedures and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain a Maritime Safety Identification Card (MSIC) - mandatory.
• Experience in warehousing, distribution or general labouring.
• Understanding of safe work procedures and logistics operations.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including possible out-of-hours shifts.
• Successful applicants must pass pre-employment checks, including a medical.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills for reporting and inventory tracking.
• Desirable: high-risk licences (forklift, reach stacker, front-end loader) and experience with heavy machinery and safety assessments (JSEAs or similar).
• Desirable: trade certificate or Certificate III in Training & Assessment, Frontline Management or WHS, and logistics/transport experience.
