Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute Legal Counsel to join a dynamic renewables legal team supporting large‑scale renewable energy projects across Australia. This full‑time, fixed‑term role will involve advising on the development, financing, procurement, construction and operation of wind, solar and battery storage assets.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate procurement and construction contracts, including EPC, balance‑of‑plant, turbine supply and OEM agreements.
• Assist with equity and debt financing, support lender due diligence and align project contracts with financing assumptions.
• Provide advice on grid connection agreements, regulatory issues and related obligations.
• Manage claims against contractors and suppliers, oversee dispute resolution and coordinate external counsel.
• Offer general legal support on procurement, health and safety, intellectual property and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver timely, practical legal advice and improve legal processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years post‑admission experience.
• Australian legal qualifications and admission to practice in an Australian state or territory (or eligibility to obtain admission).
• Expertise in front‑end and back‑end construction contracting, claims management and dispute resolution.
• Experience with project and/or equity financing in renewables, energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong organisational, analytical and commercial skills.
