Legal Counsel – In‑house role for engineering projects

About the role

KCB is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its global in‑house legal team. The role supports complex infrastructure and environmental projects across Common Law jurisdictions, providing direct legal impact on project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support throughout pursuit, negotiation and delivery phases of construction and engineering projects.
• Draft, review and maintain client and subcontractor agreements, ensuring best‑practice standards.
• Conduct daily contract reviews and deliver commercial legal advice to business units.
• Manage claims and disputes in collaboration with insurers and external counsel.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, legal frameworks and industry‑specific policies.
• Act as trusted advisor to Power & Transportation, Mining, Environmental and Infrastructure units.
• Collaborate with General Counsel, disputes counsel and risk management on strategic claim handling.
• Monitor legal and contracting trends within the EPC sector.
• Support the creation and delivery of legal and contract‑related training.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practise law in Australia (or equivalent).
• Typically 5+ years post‑admission experience with sufficient seniority to operate autonomously.
