Legal Counsel – Ethics & Compliance

About the role

Virgin Australia is seeking a Legal Counsel to lead and enhance its Ethics and Compliance Programme. This junior‑level position offers the chance to develop specialist expertise while working across a fast‑paced, in‑house environment within the aviation sector.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and strengthen the company’s culture of integrity by supporting the Ethics and Compliance Programme.
• Provide practical legal and compliance advice on regulatory changes, policy development, due diligence, investigations and training.
• Partner with business teams to deliver key compliance initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Analyse legal risks and balance them with commercial outcomes, escalating matters when appropriate.

Required profile

• Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
• 2–3 years post‑admission experience in a reputable law firm, in‑house legal team or compliance function.
• Demonstrated ability to give solutions‑focused advice and build strong stakeholder relationships.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and legal judgement skills.
• Ability to work independently, handle sensitive matters with discretion and show initiative.
