About the role
POP MART OCEANIA is expanding its retail footprint across Australia and New Zealand and needs an in‑house Legal Counsel to support commercial, regulatory and operational matters. This full‑time position offers broad exposure to contract work, corporate governance and intellectual property within a fast‑growing retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and finalise contracts and legal documents related to retail operations, including leases, construction agreements and promotional agreements.
- Support corporate governance matters such as administrative filings, board and shareholder documentation to ensure compliance with Australian corporate regulations.
- Conduct legal research and manage legal risks across offline and online business, covering import/export compliance, labeling, advertising, data protection, labour laws and consumer protection.
- Assist with the protection and administration of POP MART’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights and licensing arrangements.
- Liaise with external counsel and government agencies as required.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (retail, finance, HR, operations) to provide practical legal solutions.
- Support regional matters for the HQ legal team, including audits, shareholding adjustments, M&A activity and other projects.
- Participate in internal legal training and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) and eligibility to practise law in Australia and/or New Zealand.
- 3–8 years post‑qualification experience, preferably with exposure to corporate, commercial or retail‑focused legal work.
- Prior in‑house experience is beneficial but not essential.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial law and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent legal research, drafting and analytical abilities.
- Practical, solutions‑oriented mindset with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and ability to work cross‑functionally.
