Leader of Diversity - Primary School

About the role

The Leader of Diversity at Good Counsel Catholic Primary School in Innisfail is a substantive permanent teaching position within the Cairns Diocese. The role works in close partnership with the Principal and the leadership team to advance a culture of inclusiveness across the school, which has a cohort of 350 students and two streams for each year level from Prep to Year 6.

Key responsibilities

• Work within whole-school initiatives to address the diverse needs of students
• Plan and implement teaching strategies and programs with teachers that respond to individual student needs
• Coordinate the support provided by Diversity Teachers and School Learning Officers
• Communicate with parents as key partners in student outcomes
• Liaise with visiting specialists such as therapists and Inclusive Education Teachers
• Report to the Principal or APA as line manager and advise on the oversight of other support roles such as the Learning Support Teacher

Required profile

• Strong commitment to the values, vision and ethos of Catholic Education
• Professional qualifications in Education and demonstrated ability in learning and teaching
• Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and require learning support
• Registered or eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers
• Current driver's licence and capacity to promote child safety

Required skills

• Interpersonal skills and high-level written and verbal communication
• Community-building skills including facilitation, delegation and consultation
• Understanding of Duty of Care and workplace health and safety requirements

• Salary commensurate with experience, from $86,600 for graduates to $147,048 for lead teachers plus 2 POL points and 12.75% superannuation
