Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects. This senior position offers technical leadership, mentorship of junior engineers, and the chance to shape capability across a national network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery of water infrastructure projects, covering pumps, valves, pipelines and treatment assets.
• Provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through detailed design to Design & Construct delivery.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering technical excellence.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and act as a key advisor.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and business development activities.
• Collaborate with interstate teams (SA, VIC, QLD, WA) to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within water infrastructure.
• Strong background in pumps, valves, pipelines and water treatment/supply systems.
• Experience in a consulting or project delivery environment.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary projects.
