Lead Electrical Engineer – Power Systems Modelling

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to head power‑systems modelling for its Resources division in Brisbane. You will drive high‑impact oil and gas projects, mentor engineers and act as the technical bridge between clients and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor for electrical works across a diverse oil‑and‑gas portfolio.
• Lead the design and delivery of high‑voltage (up to 66 kV) power infrastructure projects.
• Conduct complex power‑system studies, modelling and electrical design to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Develop and maintain power system models that support project planning and performance analysis.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships, providing value‑driven engineering advice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers across local and remote sites.
• Oversee project performance, budgets, schedules and quality standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Electrical Engineer with RPEQ, CPEng or RPEng accreditation.
• Extensive experience in HV/LV power systems within mining, resources or heavy‑industry environments.
• Proven track record leading complex technical projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical data into clear, commercial recommendations.
