Lead DevOps Engineer

About the role

EML is expanding its Technology team to drive AI‑powered innovation in workers compensation. As Lead DevOps Engineer you will combine hands‑on technical expertise with people leadership to accelerate software delivery, improve reliability and embed security across cloud and on‑premise environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the DevOps team, set engineering standards, prioritize work and coach team members.
• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for fast, reliable and secure releases.
• Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible across AWS, Azure and VMware.
• Operate Kubernetes clusters and containerised applications, ensuring availability, security and disaster recovery.
• Strengthen monitoring, observability and incident response to proactively resolve issues.
• Partner with AI, infrastructure and security specialists to embed security (APRA CPS 234, ISO 27001) and improve developer tools.

Required profile

• Australian work rights without restriction.
• 7+ years IT experience, including 5+ years in DevOps/SRE/cloud infrastructure and 3+ years leading a technical team.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with AWS, Azure, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, scripting and container technologies.
• Security‑focused mindset with experience applying cloud security frameworks and managing risk.
• Excellent communication, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
