Lead Cloud Platform Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a deeply hands‑on Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to lead our DevOps team and drive day‑to‑day engineering of Compare Club’s cloud platform. This is a technical leadership role with about 70% hands‑on building and automation and the remainder leading two experienced DevOps engineers in Vietnam.

Key responsibilities

• Own engineering standards, platform roadmap and act as first escalation point for cloud platform matters.
• Design out manual effort using Python, Bash and agentic automation; establish AI workloads on AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
• Complete migration to GitHub Actions and GitOps and bring remaining Elastic Beanstalk estate under Terraform.
• Define SLOs, improve observability, lead major incident response and set up on‑call rotation.
• Maintain ISO 27001 and PCI DSS controls, strengthen secrets, access and edge protection.
• Build cost visibility, drive savings across the platform including AI/ML workloads.
• Lead and mentor two DevOps engineers in Vietnam, sharing ownership of production domains.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in infrastructure, DevOps or platform engineering, preferably in complex production AWS environments.
• Strong technical credibility, able to lead through mentorship and own priorities for a distributed team.
• Comfortable writing documentation, discussing cost, risk and sequencing with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Amazon Web Services (ECS, Fargate, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, API Gateway, Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, WAF, Route 53, IAM, SSM, Secrets Manager).
• Terraform at scale, including modules, remote state, drift management and security scanning (Checkov).
• Git, GitHub Actions, OIDC federation, GitOps deployment patterns, blue/green releases.
• Observability tools such as New Relic and CloudWatch, SLO definition and structured logging.
• Python, Bash scripting and basic SQL for data investigation.
• Hands‑on DevSecOps experience under compliance regimes (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, APRA CPS 234, Essential Eight).
• Interest or experience with AI‑assisted operations, AWS Bedrock or SageMaker.
