Lawyer – Institutional Banking

About the role

Provide legal support to relationship banking businesses within ANZ’s Institutional Division, delivering business‑oriented advice and solutions. The role primarily serves Corporate Banking or Property and Health teams while also supporting other areas as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, amend and negotiate facility documents, including letters of offer, agreements, securities and guarantees.
• Advise on ANZ’s rights and obligations under legal documents and provide strategic, commercially relevant advice on regulatory issues.
• Liaise with external counsel to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality legal services.
• Participate in internal projects, training, and stakeholder consultations to support strategic objectives and risk management.

Required profile

• Current Australian legal practising certificate.
• Extensive post‑qualification experience in banking and finance law from a top‑tier Australian or equivalent foreign law firm, or an authorised deposit‑taking institution.
• Demonstrated ability to provide commercially relevant legal advice and influence outcomes.
• Strong transactional banking and finance skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
