Junior Legal Officer

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic and proactive junior lawyer to join our dynamic legal team. Working alongside a Legal Officer, Senior Legal Officers and a Principal Legal Officer, you will be involved in a broad range of legal matters across administrative law, statutory interpretation, judicial review, anti‑discrimination, commercial contracts, personal injury, litigation and coronial investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide less complex legal advice and recommendations, both written and oral, on a variety of practice areas.
• Prepare timely advice, reports, correspondence and briefing notes on legal issues and law reform initiatives.
• Manage a caseload of files under supervision, ensuring compliance with quality and case‑management standards.
• Assist senior legal officers with professional maturity and understanding of agency context.
• Liaise with Crown Law on personal injury and WorkCover matters to ensure coordinated legal services.
• Conduct legal research, analysis, review and evaluation to deliver high‑quality advice to internal clients.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Junior lawyer with a proactive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex and sensitive legal matters under supervision.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for preparing legal documents and briefing notes.
• Capacity to manage caseloads while meeting professional and corporate responsibilities.
