Labourer – Roads & Drains

About the role

The Civil Operations team is seeking a hands‑on Labourer to support the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage assets and related civil infrastructure across the Mackay region. This full‑time, permanent position offers a stable schedule and a 9‑day fortnight for work‑life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate rigid motor vehicles up to 15 tonnes and small ride‑on equipment on site.
• Perform earthworks, concrete work, pipe‑laying, bitumen applications and vegetation management.
• Carry out daily maintenance of assigned plant and liaise with mechanical service staff.
• Manage traffic control at work sites in accordance with safety standards.
• Use work‑order software to receive tasks, record progress and complete required paperwork.

Required profile

• Current General Construction Safety White Card.
• Valid Queensland Manual Car ‘C’ Class licence.
• Willingness to obtain MR Truck licence and Traffic Control/TMI qualifications if not already held.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Operating rigid motor vehicles (up to 15 tonnes).
• Operating small ride‑on equipment.
• Traffic management and control.
• Use of work‑order and task‑assignment software.

• Base annual salary of approximately $68,187.87 AUD plus allowances.
