Laboratory Technician - Science Department

About the role

Newman Catholic College, co-located on the James Cook University site in Smithfield, Queensland, is Cairns Catholic Education's newest college, opened in 2022 with about 140 Year 7 students. Science is a signature subject at the college, and it is seeking a qualified and motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Science Department. The role contributes to the effective and efficient management and administration of the department, providing proficient support to the Leader of Science with limited supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Leader of Science in managing and administering the Science Department.
• Provide a skilled level of science expertise to help the laboratory operate effectively.
• Ensure the safe and effective operation of the laboratory.
• Support the school ethos and the welfare of students.

• A working with children blue card.
