Laboratory Technician – Asphalt

About the role

Boral Asphalt is looking for a motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician to join its Asphalt business in Toowoomba. The role focuses on sampling, mechanical testing, physical analysis, record keeping and reporting of results for aggregate and asphalt products. It is a permanent rostered position covering day and night shifts, with weekend work from time to time.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physical testing in line with laboratory work instructions, test methods, preparation instructions and manuals
• Carry out field sampling and testing on project sites
• Calibrate laboratory equipment
• Maintain, observe and take part in the statutory safety requirements of the laboratory operation
• Assist in maintaining the laboratory in line with NATA accreditation requirements
• Perform other duties as directed

Required profile

• Flexibility to work Monday to Sunday and on shift work when required
• Availability to work on project sites away from home
• Previous construction materials laboratory experience preferred
• Valid Australian driver's licence

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills and a commitment to safety and quality
• Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised in the laboratory
• Understanding of computer systems for monitoring and reporting of data
• Good communication and organisational skills
