Lab Technician – Flavor Development

About the role

Join IFF’s Melbourne laboratory as a Lab Technician supporting seasoning flavorists in creating innovative snack and bakery applications. You will work onsite in a collaborative, solution‑oriented team delivering high‑quality flavor samples.

Key responsibilities

• Compound flavor formulations accurately following established processes, formulas and safety requirements.
• Measure powder flow and functionality using specialized testing equipment.
• Prepare raw materials, solutions and samples for sensory and application evaluations.
• Maintain an organized laboratory, manage raw material and flavor stock transfers, and ensure compliance with GMP and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 1‑2 years experience in a food or laboratory environment.
• Strong mathematical ability for calculations related to formulations, dilutions and measurements.
• Highly organized, proactive and able to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment and testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of GMP, food safety and quality management practices.
