Kong API Developer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Kong API Developer to design, implement, and maintain high‑performance API solutions using Kong API Gateway. The role focuses on integrating Redis for caching, session management, and ensuring robust security across our digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and deploy APIs with Kong API Gateway, including custom plugin development.
• Design and implement caching, rate‑limiting, and session‑management strategies using Redis.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate APIs with existing systems and third‑party services.
• Monitor API performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply security best practices.
• Document API architecture, workflows, and integration processes.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in Kong, Redis, and API management.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing APIs with Kong API Gateway and custom plugins.
• Strong understanding of Redis for caching, data storage, and session management.
• Proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Lua, Go, Python, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and containerisation (Docker).
• Solid grasp of API security protocols (OAuth, JWT) and Zero Trust Architecture, including mTLS.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
