Job description

About the role

Macquarie University is looking for a Knowledge Specialist for its Research Program, based on campus. You will design the knowledge environment for the program: the frameworks, taxonomies, repositories and content that make evidence, methodologies and lessons learned accessible to researchers, professional staff, industry and community partners. Reporting to the Research Program Manager within Service Improvement, you will work across a programme that brings diverse expertise together. This is a casual opportunity.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Research Program Knowledge Management Plan.
  • Build and maintain SharePoint knowledge repositories, knowledge bases, FAQs, templates and guidance materials.
  • Draft, edit, curate and publish knowledge articles, research insights, lessons learned, methodologies and research resources.
  • Gather content from researchers and subject matter experts and turn it into clear, plain-language content.
  • Maintain knowledge article trackers and publication schedules, and monitor milestones, risks, issues and deliverables.
  • Carry out content reviews and audits to keep knowledge assets current and accurate.
  • Test and refine search functionality (AI), keywords and user experience.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder meetings, provide training and advance the adoption of knowledge management practice.

Required profile

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Management, Research Management or a related discipline; equivalent experience also considered.
  • Proven track record creating, editing and publishing knowledge articles, guidance materials and templates for varied audiences.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders in complex or matrixed environments.
  • Strong reporting, project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills, including preparing papers for governance forums.
  • Ability to combine planning with day-to-day delivery, and experience facilitating workshops, training or communities of practice.

Required skills

  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint, knowledge bases and content management systems.
  • Search optimisation and user experience testing.

What we offer

  • Casual position paid at $74.36 per hour (HEW 8) plus 25% casual loading and 12% superannuation.
  • An on-campus location close to public transport.

To apply, submit an online application with a CV and a cover letter addressing the selection criteria; applications close on 30 October 2026. Macquarie University requires pre-employment checks for preferred candidates, and existing Macquarie Group employees must apply through their Workday account.
