Junior Software Developer

About the role

SportsGrid is seeking a recent graduate to join its engineering team as a Junior Software Developer. You will work on a modern, data‑led platform that supports sport organisations across Australia and the Asia‑Pacific region, gaining exposure to both internal and external software projects.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and develop new features and enhancements for the core platform.
• Contribute to web, database and API projects across the full‑stack architecture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to solve customer challenges and deliver bug fixes.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and participate in peer code reviews.
• Upgrade legacy functionality to meet current best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent).
• Fresh ideas, a ‘can‑do’ attitude and a passion for continuous learning.
• Enthusiasm for tackling new problems in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• PHP and Laravel framework.
• jQuery, JavaScript, HTML & CSS.
• Relational database concepts and experience.
• Version control using Git.
• Understanding of web‑application architecture.
• Experience with Amazon AWS and AWS cloud deployment (e.g., Elastic services).
