Junior Lawyer

About the role

JSY Legal, a boutique firm specialising in Criminal Law, Family Law and Litigation, is seeking a junior lawyer for a full-time position reporting directly to the firm's directors, with an initial probationary period. The role suits a restricted legal practitioner who has recently been admitted to the profession or a junior lawyer new to the firm's practice areas.

Key responsibilities

• Drafting legal correspondence to clients and opponents
• Drafting court documents
• With supervision, meeting and liaising with clients, taking instructions from them and assisting with giving legal advice
• Managing files and assisting senior lawyers with client matters
• Shadowing senior lawyers in court
• Appearing in court on simple matters
• Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree
• Completed an approved practical legal training course
• Admitted to the legal profession in Western Australia
• Right to work in Australia on a full-time basis
